snow-white, warm & woolly

A snow-white stool, dressed warm and woolly.
It fits right there today. It's cold with snow and sun; a perfect winter day.
The stool is for Andree, who lives in Australia.
The traditional archival photo (that I take from each stool that I've made),
was taken in the bathroom.
Oh yeah, it's my new favorite place in the house.

The bathroom is so mighty fine!
(after one week of dust & mess)

It's just the way we meant!
That relaxed mediterranean atmosphere...and it feels so wonderfully bumpy to your feet.

wood & wool week

wood & wool week by wood & wool stool
wood & wool week, a photo by wood & wool stool on Flickr.

Yesterday we laughed out loud (understatement) at the brilliant performance of Gummbah.
The postcards are very popular.
The crocheted hearts compartment was empty soon.
I have just made some new ♥ postcards to refill.
It's nice to do something new and refresh the collection.
Anyhow the handmade stools remain and seem to be the most popular.
The traditional version is still favorite...

By the way; today, they glued the pebbles in the bathroom (só pretty!)
In a few days it will be ready (I promise to do a photo report) and I can't wait to get a 'foot massage'.

The last few days I have a bad cold and the bathrooms works (dusty) do not contribute to a quick recovery.

hotel label collection

hotel label collection

I love hotels that have something unique.
I'm not talking about stars.
Entering the room and feeling at home.
I don't mind to pay a little more to stay in a good mood room.
A cool hotel room is worth a lot to me.
I think a neat hotel makes your city trip complete.
Not only abroad but also as a 'break' in the Netherlands.
Stay overnight for just one night with good food and breakfast for me is like a mini-vacation.

Here are some of the favorite places I've stayed!
(in random order)

1. Michelberger - Berlin www.michelbergerhotel.com/
2. Lloyd hotel - Amsterdam www.lloydhotel.com/
3. Villa Augustus - Dordrecht www.villa-augustus.nl/new/index-flash.html
4. Mama Shelter - Paris www.mamashelter.com/
5. The Praktik - Barcelona www.praktikhotels.com/
6. Story Hotel - Stockholm www.storyhotels.com/
7. Hotel New York - Rotterdam www.hotelnewyork.nl/index.php/nl/home
8. Boulevard Leopold - Antwerp www.boulevard-leopold.be/
9. Tentenhotel Les Ormes - Villeréal campinglesormes.com/
10. Hotel Bazar - Rotterdam www.hotelbazar.nl/

It may be obvious, such lovely hotels happen to have funny 'do not disturb labels'. Here's my hotel label collection.

wood & pebbles preview

Pretty pebbles for the new bathroom floor.
The old floor will be demolished today.
I'm in a deafening noise at the moment.
What did you say?

to marrakech with mr. hook

If you've always wanted to go to Marrakech?
and want to learn crochet?
This cool crochet trip is perfect for you!

During your stay in Marrakech you will reside in the super-stylish riad chambres d'amis.

There are two options, whether in spring or autumn; you can learn cool crochet in Marrakech.
In spring I will go there with my love. Yeah.

More cool news; Since yesterday my handmade postcards are for sale at Villa Augustus!

For the time being, these two 'valentine' cards are the first ones, but I'm working on expanding the collection and making prints for my Etsy shop.

peculiar & exceptional

The beautiful location on the quay of one of the many truly Dutch harbors of my hometown Dordrecht is already a very good reason to come by. Furthermore Lammie verkoopt (Lammie sells) is a surprisingly cute little shop full of Lammie's peculiar and exceptional finds. Chairs, tables, old metal letters, little unique 'gadgets', the collection is constantly changing and you will find something special for sure.
If you happen to be in the area (on Saturday), you should really go inside ...

rabbit themed clothing for humans

Because of the very appropriate print, I ordered my Christmas 'work' outfit at Nyhop.

After seeing this picture Nyhop asked me if she could use the photo for NYhop Etsy shop and whether I might like it to do some modeling for another long shirt. Yeah right!

Last Wednesday we did a 'mini photoshoot'.

Today we paid a visit to Piet Hein Eek's factory and enjoyed lunch in the restaurant.

It's cool to see the men at work in the factory and I had fun playing shuffleboard on a design board.

We got a private tour in the gallery of Menno Derk Doornbos on the top floor of the building.

What a lovely day! It was nice & quiet and we had plenty of time to look around.

What an impressive place and lots, lots of inspiration! I'm even more an Eek fan, than I was before.

fermob flower

fermob flower by wood & wool stool

The first time I saw a Fermob chair was years ago in Paris.

In Jardin du Luxembourg I was impressed by so many (mostly) green chairs in the park. These chairs are re-designed by Frederic Sofia and I'm the lucky owner of several pieces (two lounge chairs and a brand new bench)

This bright orange chair is inside the house and I love the flower pattern. This Fermob chair is designed by Harald Guggenbichler.

I'm a Fermob fan at heart and I'm highly honored Fermob USA used my 'Fermob images' to start 2012 inspired.

back to 'stool' business

After a short break, I'm back to business.

The last months of 2011 consisted mainly of wood (making x-mas trees) and it's so cool making stools again, because I missed the woolly part a bit.

The first wood & wool stool of 2012 has arrived at it's destination.
Eveline asked me to make a similar stool like this one and she let me know yesterday, she's very pleased with it.

I have some new ideas bubbling in my head. When all ongoing orders have been updated, I will focus on that!

The famous Egmont rabbit lamp and the slightly less famous Gelukshaas (Lucky Hare), handmade by Isabel Lammerts. The vintage school table is from Indonesia and the wood & wool hangers are made by me. (this stuff is certainly not just for the little ones)

adidas energy

In 2012 I will use my Adidas more frequently for running.

At least once a week, like I always did, but the last months of 2011 have seriously neglected.

Too busy is no excuse, because it gives me lots of energy.
